Welcome to the website of the International Office of the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). We are pleased to welcome you to our homepage.

With 80 clinics and institutes engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration within 14 centers, the UKE is one of the largest hospitals in northern Germany. Founded in 1889, we opened our new main building in early 2009, combining tradition and state-of-the-art technology.

But that is only the beginning. Piece by piece we are implementing our vision of the “Eppendorf Health Park” in the heart of Hamburg. Gradually other suppliers that complement the hospital‘s service portfolio will locate on the UKE grounds. We already work with the RehaCentrum Hamburg (Hamburg Rehab Center) and the Facharztklinik (Specialist Clinic), among others, and numerous additional projects are at the planning stage.

The focus of our activities is always the human being – and the promotion of top-class university medicine for the treatment of highly complex diseases. The excellent interdisciplinary cooperation of our clinics in conjunction with research and teaching is of key importance and directly benefits our patients during treatment.

Of course the UKE is also active internationally. For many years patients from abroad have been coming to Hamburg for medical treatment by our renowned specialists, and we collaborate with hospitals, universities and institutes abroad. A great number of visiting doctors and scientists enrich our campus and ensure international transfer of knowledge.

The UKE International Office was established to support these guests. As the interface between patient or visiting doctor and clinic, the department is responsible for all the administrative matters of foreign visitors.
