Spine Center

The Spine Center, under the direction of Professor Dr. Wolfgang Lehmann, Dr. med Lothar Wiesner, Dr. med. Marc Dreimann, is a highly specialized facility of the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf treating degenerative, inflammatory, traumatic and neoplastic changes of the spine and deformities of the spine. All surgical access paths to the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine and the sacrum are utilized with open and minimally invasive techniques. In interdisciplinary collaboration we offer our patients expertise at the highest international level.

Our team of neurosurgeons, orthopedic specialists, radiologists and pain managers closely works with the patient and his family to determine optimal individual therapy options. Each treatment is preceded by a precise diagnosis. Depending on the condition of the patient, conservative (non-surgical) treatment is usually considered first. Surgical measures are discussed only when conservative treatment is not possible.

We perform 1,100 surgeries annually, many of them minimally invasive. For each patient we develop a physiotherapy plan to encourage speedy recovery.

Please direct your treatment request to the UKE International Office.
