Welcome to the Clinic of Dermatology!
Our Clinic of Dermatology and Venereology, led by Professor Dr. Stefan W.Schneider, specializes in the treatment of skin tumors, vascular disorders, chronic wounds and chronic inflammatory skin diseases.
We use modern laser therapies to treat unsightly vascular dilatations, pigmentations, scars, and many other medical and cosmetic conditions.
Innovative wound dressings, electrical stimulation therapies, vacuum pumps, and all types of surgical methods (i.e. transplantation of skin parts) find application in the treatment of chronic wounds.
In addition to traditional vein stripping (surgical removal of varicose veins through small incisions) our wound and vein consultations offer state-of-the-art methods such as radiofrequency-induced thermotherapy (minimally-invasive treatment using radio waves). Patients with autoimmune diseases and those suffering from the consequences of immunological therapy (e.g., in cancer patients) are treated in special consultation sessions.
Our main research interests include wound healing, the barrier function of the skin, especially in case of chronic dermatosis as well as skin tumors, Merkel cell carcinoma, and malignant melanoma (black skin cancer). Our research is supported by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG; English: German Research Foundation), other public external sources and various foundations and industrial partners.
In our Department for Andrology, we offer a full diagnostic evaluation for men with the desire to have children. This also includes testicular biopsy with cryopreservation and storage of the ejaculate at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE).
Each year we treat approximately 2,000 inpatients and 23,000 outpatients.
The Department of Dermatology and Venereology, including the Andrology Department employs 21 doctors. 32 nurses attend to the wellbeing of the patients.
We will be glad to serve your needs! Please direct your treatment request to the International Office of the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf.
